On January 21st 1934 Thelma May Chusac was born in Panama City, Panama in Central America to Eliseo Jordan and Esther Williams. She had one brother Anthony Jordan and many other brothers and sisters on her father’s side. She attended school in Panama City where she learned how to play the organ. She was a lover of music.
During the 1960's she gave birth to three girls and one boy. She was a single mother. Thelma decided to make a future for her family by migrating to the United States of America. She arrived in New York City in 1968. She worked very hard to save the money to send for her children to come to join her in the United States. On March 13th 1970 her four children arrived in New York City.
Thelma worked for the State Liquor Authority in 1968 and in 1975 she went to the Department of Labor in the Twin Towers. Thelma was loved by those with whom she worked. She always had a kind spirit towards everyone. She retired in 2003.
Thelma also accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1995 and was a faithful member of Overcoming Faith Ministries, Bronx, NY where she served as a choir member, usher and Prayer Leader. She enjoyed memorizing Scripture especially the book of Psalms and won many awards in the Bible memorization contests.
She was known as Lady T due to her love for beautiful dresses and high heels. She was also called Mother Chusac by her church family , and Gan Gan by some of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Thelma will be greatly missed by her children Patricia Ashers, Maritza, Evelina and Rafael; grandchildren Vernon, Eveline, Robert (Lydia), Freddie (Keisha), Richie, Natasha (Chima), Angela, Tanisha, Kareem, Amani and eleven(11) great grand children, family and friends.
